Astrological Guidance During Turbulent Times
We can no doubt agree we are living in turbulent times. I have written several times now about the astrological "why" of this challenging and uncertain era we are witnessing. I have linked this challenging era to the rare occurrence of our four outermost planets each entering a new sign - at almost the same time! Definitely setting the scene for significant personal and global change but also ultimately creating a more evolved world. However, that hoped-for evolution is not yet happening, or perhaps it is slowly taking place but being outmatched by the chaos and turbulence commanding our attention.
Today, I thought it could be useful to all of us to offer guidance about how to make our way through these times, maintaining a focus on our own health and happiness, using astrology as the road map. This is not to say we should ignore what is going on. I am a firm believer that to maintain decency, democracy and equality, each of us needs to stay involved and participate as we see fit in the larger issues of humanity, our society and country.
However, we have all noticed some friends and loved ones who have become overtaken by the events of these current times and are not giving their personal wellness its needed attention. We need to maintain our own sanity, health, and happiness while still contributing to a better world.
Astrology has some simple, yet very specific and helpful guidance to offer each of us on how to become more centered and happier during hard times. As those of you who have had a Birth Chart reading with me know, the twelve astrological signs are divided equally among the four elements of Fire, Earth, Air and Water. Each of these four elements contains information which becomes a resource to guide us in choosing healthy and satisfying ways to stay grounded during challenging times.
Look at the element of your Moon sign – it will give excellent advice about ways to increase your happiness level because it is the emotional component of the Birth Chart. Your Moon sign contains very specific information about how to stay centered and emotionally healthy during uncertain times.
If your Moon is in the Fire elements of Aries, Leo, or Sagittarius, then planning adventures becomes a priority as well as having a regular schedule in place to strengthen your body. The Fire element revels in new experiences and also deems it very important to keep the body supple and strong. Plan activities that are new and different from your usual night-out or weekend getaway. It can be quite uplifting to visit a new section of our country or of the world. Something new and different on your agenda can soothe your body's nervous system reaction to these unpredictable times. Also, fine-tune your exercise program, adding consistency but also experimentation with ways to become even more physically strong. Perhaps join a new gym, just to have a new setting for your workouts.
If your Moon is in the Earth signs of Taurus, Virgo, or Capricorn, first and foremost do increase the time you spend in nature, whether it be taking more hikes if you have nearby access to nature or going to the arboretum or botanical gardens if you live in a big city. Weekend getaways to National and State parks are very nourishing for all of us, but especially to those of you with Earth moon signs. Secondly, Earth moon signs place a high value on financial security. Give more attention to how you spend your money and whether it meets your needs. During these unpredictable times it can provide comfort to apply more of your earnings to savings. If you have investments, keep up to date on their viability. If you have an investment counselor, it is a good time to review your overall assets.
If your Moon is in the Air signs of Gemini, Libra, or Aquarius, then intellectual pursuits become quite rewarding and help maintain a sense of fulfillment and purpose during these troubling times. Sign up for a workshop or course of study. Tackle a subject that has been of interest yet unexplored. Learn a new language. It is also important to add a social element to these intellectual pursuits. Join a book club or create one. The Air moon signs thrive through social contact, especially social contact that has an intellectual component or a societal focus. Socializing with like-minded people is balm for the nervous system for those of you with Air Moons. It can also feel very satisfying to volunteer at a food bank or participate in a politically active group to help maintain balance during these unsettling times.
If your Moon is in the Water signs of Cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces, a sense of connectedness with others becomes even more important during these chaotic times. The nature of satisfying social contact for Water Moons has a different focus than for the Air Moon signs. It is most appreciated when the contact involves being with loved ones. Reach out to friends for lunch or a museum visit. Plan more dinners with cherished family members, attend gatherings that have a community focus. Helping others is rewarding for all of us, but especially for those of you with a Water moon. Efforts that feed the hungry can be especially satisfying. So can any volunteer job that focuses on helping people in emotional distress. As an example, I have two family members who bring their therapy dogs to crisis centers in their communities, to help calm and bring smiles to the children there.
Some of you may have your Moon in one element all by itself, with no other planetary member in that element. In that case, you may also want to engage in the guidance for the element your Sun offers.
As always, I send my love and do wish you well in channeling your attention towards activities which nourish you and keep you healthy.
