Chiron Enters Taurus

Chiron Enters Taurus

By Corrie Cooperman

Chiron represents the Wounded Healer Archetype in astrology and has just moved from Aries into the sign of Taurus.  Chron’s orbit around the sun is about 50 years in length, but its path is very elliptical, so it stays in some signs for many more years than others.  It stays in Aries the very longest, with its time in Taurus a close second. This makes it very worthwhile to explore its time in both of these two signs.

In Greek mythology, the centaur Chiron was a gifted healer, psychic, and astrologer. But he also had to endure a lifelong wound from a spear, which healed only when he gave up his immortality and became humanlike.  Chiron speaks to the nature of one’s core wounding, and subsequently derived gifts, thus its interpretation becomes very poignant and meaningful for clients. I am always drawn to spend time discussing Chiron when doing a reading because of the depth of personal insight it offers.

Chiron went into Aries in the Spring of 2019.  Little did we know we would need this healer’s archetype energy in Aries quite soon to help us cope with a major worldwide pandemic.  Chiron in Aries would help us rise to the intensity needed to deal with all the disruption the Covid virus created - disruptions for those going to school, for those working in the health fields, for those sent to work at home, and certainly for those who contracted the virus.

Aries is associated with quick problem solving mixed with a nice dose of enthusiasm. Its focus is towards innovation, experimentation, and founding new businesses. Aries is future oriented rather than mired in the past.  Regardless of one’s opinion about the Covid vaccine, its ultra quick development was a scientific feat of seismic proportions. Chiron in Aries helped us adapt and be creative with our living arrangements during the pandemic.  It helped us research and employ new approaches to treat symptoms of depression, fatigue, and anxiety, all endemic during the Covid era

As we made our way through those very tough couple of years, Chiron instilled within us a warrior like passion for moving on, for healing and truly paying attention to our emotional well-being, which is a specialty of the Wound Healer Archetype. Families that housed together during Covid found ways to continue that sense of togetherness. Many people developed a new interest in keeping their body physically strong through weight training and targeted supplements. The entire wellness industry expanded exponentially in response to the public’s demand to live vibrantly, robustly, with bodies that function well beyond the commonly held beliefs about aging. The emergence of the GLP -1 medicines gave millions of people the newfound ability to move from obesity to a normal weight, turning the food industry upside down to accommodate a huge interest in healthy, low-sugar and chemical-free whole foods.

Chiron has just begun its journey into Taurus and will make its way slowly through the sign over the next seven years. I am very excited to watch the new contributions Chiron will make to our ability to heal, physically and emotionally. Taurus is the earthiest of the three Earth signs.  It wants us to grow our connection to Mother Earth, to appreciate its beauty and bounty in all it provides and to access the wisdom it holds.

While Chiron is in Taurus, I predict our attention will turn to anchoring the health gains we have made in the last 5 post-Covid years. We will recognize that the state of wellness takes ongoing effort and attention, and not just engagement in a fad that can fizzle out.

Chiron in Taurus will highlight the healing nature of the many plants grown on Mother Earth’s belly. Scientists are already returning to native habitats throughout the world in search of finding new cures for both physical and emotional illnesses.  It is hard to believe but even our federal government is now strongly pursuing the use of Ibogaine, a wood bark sacred to the healers in Central Africa, to treat PTSD in the military.

Chiron in Taurus will also grow our connection to Mother Earth and its healing properties. Chiron will remind us to appreciate the beauty we witness every day in the flowers and trees Mother Earth produces, in the creeks, rivers, and oceans that mesmerize, in the ever-changing cloud formations that capture our imagination.  Most importantly Chiron in Taurus will inspire us to spend more time in our mountains and deserts and receive the endless healing energy always available from Mother Earth herself.

The sign of Taurus is also associated with excellent follow-through skills.  Chiron in Aries gave us the start-up energy to focus on our wellness, while Chiron in Taurus supplies the energy to actually attain our wellness goals. We will access the determination to see a course of action through, notably the course we set pertaining to personal healing, regeneration and wellness.

Years ago, I wrote an article that was published in The Mountain Astrologer which discusses, in depth, my interpretation of Chiron and how it functions in each house it occupies in a person’s Birth Chart.  If you want to learn more about Chiron and the guidance it holds for you, view the Chiron article in my website: https://www.corriecooperman.com/blog/chiron-in-the-birth-chart

Recently, I was interviewed by Henry Hawk of Rooted & Wild exclusively discussing the role of Chiron in the Birth Chart. Henry is an excellent interviewer. You can access the podcast here:  https://podcasts.apple.com/.../rooted-wild/id1831045113...

While Chiron will soon retrograde briefly back into Aries before making its lengthy way through Taurus, the stage has been set.  Stay attuned to your emerging wellness goals.  You now have help in the follow-through required to achieve those goals!

Wishing you wellness,

Corrie
